Priyanka Chopra to join Bajirao Mastani cast

After a number of names being tossed around about the lead cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much awaited project 'Bajirao Mastani', now comes the time to cast Bajirao's wife Kashibai. And guess what, it is none other than Priyanka Chopra who has topped the list this time.

Speculations have been rife for some time about who is to essay the role of Bajirao in Sanjay's ambitious project, with names such as Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh doing the rounds.

While Deepika Padukone might play the role of Mastani, the name of Priyanka Chopra has emerged as a contender to play Bajirao's wife Kashibai.   

According to a leading daily, Priyanka has apparently bagged the role of Kashibai, Bajirao's first wife.

Priyanka Chopra to role in Madhur Bhandarkar's Madamji

It has now been officially confirmed that Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra will starring in Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film Madamji.

However, Madhur has to endure some waiting as he can only go ahead with the shooting after mid-October.

The project has apparently got delayed since Priyanka informed Madhur that although she is bowled over by the script and surely wants to be a part of the project, she can only take up the role after she is finished with Omung Kumar's Mary Kom and Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do.

A source close to a leading portal has added that since Priyanka wants to do Madamji in one go as it is a challenging role, Madhur is now planning to wrap up Calendar Girls, a moderate-budget film which needs only 55-56 days of shoot.

Madamji is based on the life of an item girl-turned-politician. Before this, Madhur and Priyanka have collaborated before for Fashion which won her a National Award.

As per the latest buzz, Ms Chopra has bagged Madhur Bhandarkar’s next in which she will don the hat of a politician

B-town beauties turning politicians onscreen is the latest fad in Bollywood it seems. After Kangana Ranaut and Sonam Kapoor, we hear Priyanka Chopra too will be seen playing a politician on the silver screen. Reportedly, the dusky beauty has been roped in to play the lead in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Madam Jee which is based on the life of actor-turned-politician Jayalalithaa. Though Deepika Padukone and Vidya Balan were being considered for the same role, it’s PeeCee who has walked away with the Madhur’s film. The talented filmmaker, who is known for hard hitting films, will team for the second time with Priyanka. Earlier, the duo worked together in Fashion which turned out to be a blockbuster. While Bhandarkar doesn’t repeat his heroines, looks like he has made an exception this time.

While talking to a leading daily, a source said, “Madhur has never repeated his heroines. Page 3 had Konkana Sen Sharma, Chandni Bar starred Tabu, Corporate featured Bipasha Basu, Traffic Singal’s leading lady was Neetu Chandra and Kareena Kapoor played the main lead in Heroine. He wanted to work with Priyanka after Fashion. When he was writing the script of Madam Jee, the story of a string woman’s journey through life, he pictured PC in the role. Everyone knows that in Madhur’s films, the actresses play the protagonists and that is also true ofMadam Jee. It will also be a realistic film as all Madhur’s films.”

The National Award winning director will finalise the dates with the Exotic babe once he is back from Spain where he is currently doing a recce. Since the Gunday starlet has three films lined up already this year – Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Mary Kom biopic, Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do and Prabhu Dheva’s next with Saif Ali Khan, Madhur’s film may go on floors next year. Well, the director-producer doesn’t mind waiting coz he thinks no other heroine fits the bill perfectly than Priyanka.

Well, even Bollywoodlifers think the same. We say so coz not so long ago we at BL had conducted a poll asking our viewers to pick a heroine best suited for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Madam Jee. The singer-actor won the poll leaving behind Katrina Kaif, Dippy and Vids. Strange, na?

Priyanka Chopra in and as Mary Kom: First look

Priyanka Chopra is currently shooting for her much awaited biopic on World Boxing champion Mary Kom.

The first schedule of the film began towards the end of 2013 with debut director Omung Kumar. Her looks for the film is out from the sets of the film.

The first look shows Priyanka Chopra in a boxing ring wearing her full boxing kit and all set for a bout.

Priyanka Chopra is playing the five-time world boxing champion Mary Kom. PC feels  she shares a slice of life with the legendary sportswoman.

"Her story is same as that of mine. I too struggled when I came in the industry and cried alone. It is basically the story of every girl, who has a dream," Chopra said during an interaction. 

"The film is about the trials and tribulations of Mary, who was born to landless farmer in Manipur and subsequently rose to make a mark for herself as a boxer," she said.

Priyanka also made several trips to Mary Kom's homeland Manipur to understand and get into her character better. Priyanka observed her life there closely and the struggles she faced.

Looks like she is all set to for a win.
